Conference on Chilean History on June 22

The independences of Chile: 1810—1818, revisiting the initial roots of the Chilean Republic.

In the framework of our statutory function of improving the mutual knowledge of Chilean and Belgian citizens and firms, a new cycle of historic conferences was decided.

In cooperation with HE the Ambassador of Chile, Raul Fernandez Daza, this Conference will be given on 22 June by Christian Ghymers at the premise of the Embassy of Chile, rue des Aduatiques n°106 at 18:00 (free entrance with registration from 17:30).

Considering that this year marks the Bicentenary of the military historic exploit of the passage across the Andes by the 5.000 soldiers from the Chilean-Argentinean coalition of patriots, which allowed for opening the way to freeing Chile (and later Peru) from Spanish colonial rule, we considered opportune to revisit the whole process of the independence of Chile from an outsider perspective.

The positions that will be expressed by the speaker are exclusively personal and in any case could be attributed neither to the Embassy of Chile nor to the Chamber.

Please register your participation by email to: maria.linares@chileanchamber.be

A cocktail will close the conference.
