Letter from the President 2018

Dear members and friends of the Belgo-Chilean chamber of Commerce,

The Belgo-Chilean Chamber of Commerce has the honor to formalize our move to BECI premises 500 Avenue Louise.  As you know, this move took place at the end of last year in the framework of the lounge of the Cluster of Pacific Alliance Chambers of Commerce i. e. the four bilateral chambers of Belgium with Chile, Colombia, Peru and Central America.

 APPLICATION FOR GRANTS

For the first time in the history of our Chamber, the Cabinet of Secretary of State for Foreign Trade Pieter De Crem has awarded the Chamber with a grant of € 1000. This positive result was reached in the context of the Cluster project and the three other chambers also received a grant.

For 2018, we already submitted a similar demand to the Cluster members. These grants are needed for financing the rent and services to BECI.

AVENUE LOUISE 500

A second highlight of strategic importance to the Belgo-Chilean chamber of Commerce is the agreement we have reached, together with the Chambers of Commerce of Chile, Colombia and Peru, with Olivier Willock and BECI for the creation, under the same rooftop, of a joint central secretariat.

Which means that we can now transfer the Belgo-Chilean chamber of Commerce’s registered office to BECI on avenue Louise, 500.

It also means that we have adapted the association articles (statutes) to this new situation and we have approved those adjustments of the statutes, which was decided at our last general assembly of January 2018.

The cooperation with BECI offers a number of important advantages:

  • Please note that at its secretariat at BECI, the Belgo-Chilean Chamber of Commerce will dispose of a fixed and regularly staffed telephone number (02 643 78 22)

  • The Belgo-Chilean Chamber of Commerce will be able to book, in direct or indirect cooperation with BECI, a variety of conference facilities equipped with state-of-the-art audiovisual materials incl.catering facilities.

  • As a member of the Belgo-Chilean Chamber of Commerce, you can now use (FOC) BECI’s Business Center on the 2nd floor for teleworking or a small business meeting.

  • As a member of the Belgo-Chilean Chamber of Commerce, you can now call on BECI for information and even personalized advice in the framework of the internationalization of your company for questions concerning customs, contracts, payment modalities and facilities, VAT rulings, market studies and even model contracts (if available internally).

  • As a member of the Belgo-Chilean Chamber of Commerce, you can now participate in seminars, training courses at the same price as a member of BECI.

  • As a member of the Belgo-Chilean Chamber of Commerce, you will henceforth be invited to meetings with foreign trade delegations.

  • As a member of the Belgo-Chilean Chamber of Commerce, you can ask BECI to look for partners (e.g. in the context of the formation of consortia) on its platform Enterprise Europe Network. If your company is based in Brussels, you will be invited to any “matchmaking event” that could be of interest to you.

  • As a member of the Belgo-Chilean Chamber of Commerce, you will also have access to the services of the “Export Formalities” unit, which is responsible, amongst others, for the delivery of CO documents, the ATA carnet, the legalization of documents or the delivery of GlobalSign Certificates.

  • Last but not least, BECI will give us access to its very extensive mailing lists of companies, not only in the Brussels region but also at a national level. This service is undoubtedly of major added value to the belgo-chilean chamber of Commerce as it will largely contribute to the further development and expansion of our Chamber.
